December 16, 2011 - Strattec Security Corp., an automotive lock and key manufacturer, now offers 6-foot Bolt Cable Locks featuring a pin and loop design to provide different length options. The Bolt Cable Locks are made from 1/4"-coiled cable with 1/16"-black vinyl coating and are coil sprung for compact storage. They feature One-Key Lock Technology, which permanently programs the lock to the owner's vehicle ignition key, so that once the ignition key is inserted into the lock cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down until they are matched exactly to that key, explains Strattec. The first time the key is rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key, it adds. May 6, 2011 Isuzu Commercial Truck of America will now offer Fleet Director, a telematics system from Teletrac Inc., as an option in its 2011 and 2012 model year N-Series trucks. The company describes it as a fully integrated, web-based solution that tracks vehicle usage in real time by sending vehicle and driver performance reports that is accessible from any internet-connected personal computer. It will be offered as either a port- or dealer-installed option for 2011 and 2012 NPR-HD, NQR and NRR models beginning this month. April 8, 2011 Legrand has introduced its new electric vehicle chargers for residential and light commercial applications with charging stations, which it claims are weatherproof rated and compatible with all plug-in electric vehicles. According to Legrand, choices include the Level 1 15A/120V charger, a portable charger that plugs into a standard 15A or 20A receptacle and includes built-in ground fault protection, and the Level 2 20A/240V charger, which is hard-wired to a 20A circuit and can charge vehicles in approximately three to six hours.
April 8, 2011 Hino Trucks has introduced Hino Insight, which it calls the most advanced, tailored, comprehensive web-based location and telematics solution in the medium-duty commercial truck market. This “innovative” GPS-based system offers remote fleet management capabilities to fleet operations of all sizes, including driving efficiencies, safety, security, customer satisfaction and green initiatives, it says. The solution was developed in partnership with WebTech Wireless and is currently offered for 2008 through 2012 model year trucks.
