(UPDATED October 16, 2013, with VIDEO) September 27, 2013 - Belkin says it has simplified the delivery of audio/video connectivity over Cat5e long distance applications with its new HDBaseT HDMI AV extender.
September 13, 2013 - The newly redesigned Universal Light from Rittal is a made-for-North America version, sporting both UL recognition and CSA certification.
July 31, 2013 - FSR says its DVS-MFSW-94XT—a multi-format 9x4 scaling matrix switcher—reduces challenges associated with integrating legacy analogue gear with newly installed digital video products. The 94XT offers nine inputs: four HDMI with stereo audio; three HDMI via CatX cable; and two multi-format analogue inputs. On the output side, there are two HDMI outputs and two HDMI over CatX outputs—each scaled to match the resolution of the display. The 94XT incorporates intelligent EDID and HDCP management, says FSR, adding that the unit has two additional balanced stereo audio inputs, one unbalanced stereo audio output, and SPDIF outputs for each video output for additional flexibility. It can be controlled from the front panel, remotely via RS-232 or TCP/IP, or through the built-in web server.
July 27, 2013 - Extron Electronics’ PC 101 is a one input, one output AC power controller for providing remote power management for AV devices. When paired with a controller or control processor equipped with relays, the PC 101 can be configured to turn a device ON or OFF at scheduled times for security and energy-saving purposes. It features a contact closure control input and tally output, which can be used for visual feedback. The slim, compact form factor and IEC connectors on pigtails enable inline use with other devices and discrete mounting behind displays or other equipment. The PC 101 has a power rating of 100-240vac, 50/60Hz, allowing for universal compatibility.
July 24, 2013 - BICSI—an association supporting the information technology systems (ITS) industry—announced the release of its latest standard, ANSI/BICSI 005-2013, “Electronic Safety and Security (ESS) System Design and Implementation Best Practices”. BICSI 005 provides security professionals with the requirements and recommendations for a structured cabling infrastructure needed to support today’s security systems, while providing the cabling design professional information on different elements within safety and security systems affecting the design.
July 23, 2013 - Omega’s new OM-ESW-100 series is a range of IEEE 802.3 layer two network unmanaged industrial ethernet switches with automatic speed, duplex and cable sensing. The series features construction capable of withstanding environmental extremes, says Omega, adding these Class I, Division 2 switches feature redundant power inputs, hardened metal enclosures, and 16kV port protection. Each switch is capable of auto negotiating 10/100 Mbps and half/full duplex communications.
