January 24, 2018 | By Ellen Cools
January 24, 2018 — Health Canada and Honda Canada Inc. have issued a recall for Honda Portable Generator, Model EG2800i.
The generator has a red front cover and black metal frame. The words “HONDA” in white lettering and model number “EG2800i” in white lettering with a red outline are printed on the front of the generator (black control panel).
The generator can leak fuel, posing a potential burn and fire hazard. As of January 17, 2018, the company has received no reports of incidents or injury in Canada.
Approximately 960 units of the affected products were sold in Canada, from October 2017 to November 2017.
The units were manufactured in the U.S. and distributed by Honda Canada Inc.
Health Canada and Honda Canada say consumers who have purchased a Honda Portable Generator should contact Honda Canada Inc. to determine if they have the affected product. Honda Canada Inc. will perform an inspection of the product and replace the part as needed.
