RECALL: Mastercraft Construction Heater poses fire hazard

Health Canada has recalled Mastercraft’s Construction Heater, 4800W, due to risk of overheating, which can pose a burn and fire hazard.

The affected heater, of which approximately 10,000 units were sold in Canada between 1997 to 2014, carries the item number 052-2604. The item number and certification file number can be found on the label affixed to the back of the heater.

As of Nov. 8, 2019, Canadian Tire (the only distributor of the product) has received nine reports of the product overheating, with two incidents of the product catching fire and damaging property in Canada. Luckily, no injuries were reported.

Health Canada recommends anyone that is using this product to immediately cease use and return it to the place of purchase for a store credit or to obtain a replacement unit. Proof of purchase is not required.
