RECALL: Nidec Emerson or EcoTech EZ swimming pool motors

June 7, 2017 – In a joint recall with Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Nidec Motor Corp. is recalling certain variable-speed swimming pool motors with a programmable user interface on the top because the pump control cover may not be properly grounded, posing an electrical shock hazard.

“Emerson” or “EcoTech EZ” is printed on top of the control box, and the model number is printed on the rating plate located on the side of the pump. Model numbers included in the recall are:

M063  BLE  0121014J
M063  BLM  0128014J
M063  BMD  0142014J
M063  BME  0143014J
M063  BMF  0144014J
M063  BMG  0145014J

As of May 30, 2017, Nidec has not received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada or the United States.


About 22 units were sold in Canada and about 16,000 were sold in the States from 2010 to October 2016. They were manufactured in Mexico.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled motors and contact Nidec to schedule a free repair by a qualified technician to install an external ground lead. Call 877-282-0223.
