RECALL: Ram 2015 Promaster’s CAN-C

April 26, 2016
By Renée Francoeur
April 26, 2016 – Transport Canada reports a recall involving Ram’s 2015 Promaster van series due to an electrical malfunction.
On the vans equipped with a 2.4L engine, the electrical (CAN-C) communication connector located on the floor in front of the driver’s seat could become corroded, Ram says. If this were to occur, it could result in a loss of communication to the Transmission Control Module (TCM), potentially resulting in a default shift to neutral, a loss of motive power and a no start condition, which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.
Dealers will relocate the CAN-C bus communication connector to under the instrument panel. Connectors exhibiting signs of corrosion will be replaced.
About 3050 units are thought to be affected, according to Transport Canada.
