February 5, 2015 – Health Canada, the U.S. CPSC and Sea Gull Lighting have issued a joint product recall involving several chandelier collections from the lighting manufacturer, because the screw collar that holds the chandelier to the ceiling mount can break, causing the chandelier to fall and creating a risk of injury.

The recall involves various models of Sea Gull Lighting chandeliers from one of the following seven collections: Brandywine, Laurel Leaf, New Verona, Newport, Parkview, Roslyn and Somerton. The chandeliers are metal with various finishes and two or three tiers of glass shades. They measure between 27-in. to 50-in. wide and 26-in. to 46-in. high, depending on the model.

About 800 chandeliers were sold in Canada and 8800 were sold in the States at various retailers and online. They were sold from November 2006 to August 2013. The units were manufactured in China distributed by Sea Gull Lighting Products LLC of Skokie, Ill.

Four incidents have been reported to Sea Gull Lighting, and no injuries have been reported. Health Canada has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.
