RECALL: Canadian Tire’s MasterCraft work platform (061-1015)

July 11, 2016 – Canadian Tire has issued a recall for its MasterCraft work platform (061-1015), citing a possibility of the bolts breaking, causing the platform to collapse.

The product doubles as a sawhorse or seating bench and is 20-in. tall with a 12×36-in. deck and 250 lb weight capacity. Affected batch numbers include: 20213-xxx, 30213-xxx, 40213-xxx, 50213-xxx and 60213-xxx. The batch number can be found laser engraved on one of the four legs.

Health Canada says it has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these platforms.

Canadian Tire has received three reports of a broken bolt, causing the platform to collapse. No injuries have been reported.

Approximately 95,918 units (includes batches not affected by recall) were sold in Canadian Tire stores from 2013 to 2016.

The products were manufactured by Oakfair Industrial in China.

Consumers are asked to immediately stop using the affected MasterCraft work platform and return it to their local Canadian Tire store for a refund.
