May 31, 2016 – Shanghai Haifeng Electrical Lighting Co. has issued a recall for halogen light bulbs sold under the Literonics brand. The affected products, MR16 EXN/A halogen, are CSA certified under file number 215548.

The centre contacts can soften and break, or fall off over time, which presents a potential shocking hazard due to poor electrical contact, the company stated.

Health Canada has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of the product in Canada. Shanghai Haifeng Electrical Lighting Co. Ltd has received one report of the centre contacts breaking in Canada. No injuries were reported.

About 9,898 units were sold in Canada from April 2015 to April 2016.

The products are 50W/120V with a E26 base and model number L-3750. UPC is 706762673604 and date code is 100635H.

The bulbs were manufactured in China.
