SMA adds 60kW model to Sunny Tripower inverter line

June 19, 2015 | By Renée Francoeur

June 19, 2015 – SMA is now taking orders for its newest solution for medium to large-scale PV plants: the Sunny Tripower 60-US. This 60 kW inverter combines the advantages of a decentralized system layout with the benefits of a centralized inverter design, SMA says.

The 60-US boasts maximum efficiency of 98.8%, power density (60kVA at just 165 pounds) and DC input voltage of up to 1000V, according to SMA. It also provides a scalable PV building block approach and full grid management features, making it ideal for medium and large commercial systems, as well as distributed utility-scale applications. It can also be paired with the SMA inverter manager (central communications and control interface), local commissioning and service tool, and a combiner box.

The inverter is configured by selecting the system-specific configuration files, and then transmitting them to all inverters. Individual inverter data is aggregated into a single plant profile for performance analysis.
