Ridgid unveils its next-generation Advanced Lithium batteries

April 16, 2013 | By Anthony Capkun

April 15, 2013 – Advanced Lithium 18V batteries from Ridgid are the company’s next-generation of power tool battery technology, promising improved performance and more benefits than their predecessors. Available in two sizes (2 Ah and 4 Ah), the updated batteries provide short-circuit, over-current and over-discharge protection, and cell balancing. The batteries also work in much hotter temperatures, says Ridgid, ranging from -20C up to 70C. Outside of these temperatures, thermal protection shuts the battery down, while over-discharge protection eliminates the ‘trickle effect’. Both batteries have a lifespan of 400-500 charges. Backward-compatible with existing 18V batteries, charge time is more than 50% quicker with Advanced Lithium batteries and chargers: 30 minutes for the 2 Ah and 45 minutes for the 4 Ah. In addition to Press Tools, Advanced Lithium batteries are the company’s new standard battery offering for its SeekTech underground utility locating devices (in photo).
