RuggedCom introduced the RuggedRouters RX1500 and RX1501 for electric power utilities, industrial plant floors and traffic control systems. The RX1500 is an industrially hardened, integrated layer 3 ethernet switch and router; its modular and hot-swappable platform allows customers to select amongst DSL, cellular, T1/E1, DDS, serial and ethernet options, while offering up to 8-port Gb ethernet and dual-redundant power supplies. The RX1501 offers a greater port density in 100Mbps line rates, with support for up to 24 optical ports and 36-port copper 10/100BaseTX. These products provide utilities with the versatility they demand from their networks as they deploy smart grid applications, says the company.
