“Safe” small businesses could be $10K richer
WSIB seeks submissions for safety leadership awards

May 15, 2023 – Ontario’s Workplace Safety & Insurance Board is accepting submissions for its 7th annual Small Business Health & Safety Leadership Awards (2023 edition), but only until May 19.
“Win up to $10,000 by telling us what your small business has done over the past year to improve your workplace health and safety,” says the agency.
The top three businesses will receive a monetary prize of:
Gold – $10,000
Silver – $6000
Bronze – $4000
ELIGIBILITY
• Businesses registered with WSIB whose account is in good standing.
• Independently owned and operated businesses that have at least one employee (not including the owner/operator) but less than 50 employees.
• During the life of their business, entrants must not have had:
– any fatalities in the workplace, nor
– any convictions by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development for violations under the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, nor the Employment Standards Act (ESA).
• Past winners are not eligible to re-apply for five years.
