May 10, 2017 – Employees of Nova Scotia Power’s Tufts Cove Generating Station in Dartmouth recently celebrated two million hours of service without lost time due to injury.

“Safety first is the underlying priority of everything we do at Nova Scotia Power, no matter if you’re working on a powerline, in an office, or at one of our generation sites,” said chief operating officer, Mark Sidebottom. “Safety is fundamental to our business and central to our corporate culture, which is evident by this remarkable achievement by our employees at Tufts Cove.”

This milestone at Tufts Cove raises the bar for safety excellence across the company, the utility said, which previously recognized 1-million hour milestones achieved by the Eastern Territory Field Operations team and the Point Aconi Generating Station team.

“We’re very proud of our members for their continued commitment to workplace safety, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year,” said James Sponagle, business manager, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1928.
“Members work together on the job to ensure that we can all go home to our families and return safely for another day’s work.”
