SAFETY NOTICE: Milwaukee M18 high-demand 9.0 pack

June 29, 2017 | By Anthony Capkun

June 29, 2017 – In consultation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Milwaukee Tool is voluntarily expanding warnings and instructions for its M18 high-demand 9.0 battery pack (No. 48-11-1890) to address situations that could lead to pack failure and/or other safety hazards.

N.B. Milwaukee insists this IS NOT a product recall. This safety notice does not require you to return your M18 HD 9.0 battery packs.

Essentially, should highly conductive or corrosive fluids (examples cited include seawater, bleach) get inside the pack in sufficient quantities, it can cause battery pack failure.

Failure can include a short-circuit, which can result in smoking or fire—even when not in use. Milwaukee did not say this safety notice was connected to any particular incident.

Milwaukee urges its customers to download, read and understand the expanded warnings and instructions in their entirety at milwaukeetool.com/safetynotices, where they will also find FAQs.

Any customers who believe such fluids have entered their packs should contact Milwaukee at 844-577-5515.
