SCC hosting free networking event in celebration of World Standards Day

October 1, 2011 – EBMag has just learned the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is hosting a free networking breakfast event in celebration of World Standards Day on October 14, 2011. The event at Ottawa’s new Convention Centre will feature a panel debating issues and sharing knowledge on how to improve the safety of consumer electrical products for today’s global marketplace. The panel will comprise leaders from across Canada’s standardization network, including Normand Breton of Ontario’s Electrical Safety Authority.

The theme for this year’s event is “International Standards-Creating confidence globally”. Every year on October 14, member bodies of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) celebrate World Standards Day. The yearly event highlights the importance of standards-related activities and pays tribute to the collaborative efforts of the thousands of individuals that give their time and expertise to standards-related work.

The event will also include opportunities to network and to have valuable interactive discussions. The event will be of interest to a range of participants including: standards developers, government regulators, industry stakeholders, retailers, manufacturers, policy makers, trade experts, certification bodies and consumers. Exhibit booths of SCC collaborators will be present.
