February 6, 2013 – Schletter boasts its Helios 3D is a powerful layout tool for utility-scale solar plants. This two-part software system consists of database management integrated with Autodesk’s Civil 3D AutoCAD drafting interface. It automatically places 3-D racks in a 3-D space at any given date and time; from there, users may define parameters to develop the layout to specific standards and requirements. In addition to supporting project development and layout, Helios 3D provides shade calculations, bill of materials for modules, posts, racking, cable lists (new feature) and GPS coordinates for GPS-controlled pile-driving rams. The software also promises design flexibility: with a click of a button, Helios 3D automatically updates shading calculations and rack placement when the design changes. In addition to Helios 3D PV Plant Layout, Helios 3D now offers the PV Plant Engineering upgrade for electrical layouts. Create custom electrical device hierarchies, string assignments and cable trenching design, then apply it to the physical rack layout.
