July 6, 2015 – Schneider Electric has launched its HVL/cb metal-enclosed vacuum circuit breaker switchgear. The HVL/cb switchgear features the combination of the “industry’s smallest footprint vacuum circuit breaker,” according to Schneider, with an integrated load disconnect switch. This offers a space-efficient alternative to traditional metal-clad switchgear, the company added.

The HVL/cb switchgear is engineered to incorporate an arc-resistant plenum that vents out the right or left of the switchgear. Much like the popular metal-clad switchgear, the compartmentalized design boosts personnel and equipment safety by reducing unauthorized access to energized parts of the equipment, Schneider Electric said.

The product is suitable for industry applications with system voltage up to 15kV at 25kA interrupting rating; and bus ratings up to 1200A. There is also an optional “Type 2B” arc resistant design available for customer selection.

The product meets ANSI C37.20.3 standard and is certified to Canadian Standard C22.2, No. 31.
