September 16, 2014 – Signamax has debuted a tool designed to remove (strip) optical fiber buffers using thermal technology, when there is a requirement for reliable and 100% clean removal of buffer materials from optical fibers, it says.

Describing it as an alternative to mechanical buffer removing tools, the company says the OFTBS-1 is recommended as a buffer removing tool in termination procedures of Signamax field-installable pre-polished optical fiber connectors. It offers five hours of battery life and four temperature modes: 70C (158F); 90C (164F); 110C (230F); and 130C (266F).
