September 10, 2013 | By Anthony Capkun

September 9, 2013 – Global bearings, seals, mechatronics and lubrication systems supplier SKF offers a range of custom-machined sealing solutions exclusively engineered for applications in the hydropower industry.

The company says it can supply virtually any kind of seal for any application and in any quantity, dimension and profile, and all can be manufactured from a proprietary, self-lubricated cast polyurethane material blend promising up to four times the service life of conventional seal materials. Additional material options also are available to meet specific application demands.

SKF can deliver one-piece designs for seals up to 4000-mm in diameter, or spliced designs using a welding technique to achieve the performance and integrity of an endless seal for those seals greater than 10,000-mm in diameter.

Engineered designs ranging from flexible and compact radial lip seals to chevron and loaded cap seals can equip a range of hydropower industry applications, including rotor blades, wicket gates, spherical valves, upper and lower ring gates, and butterfly valves. The company can also assist with onsite welding and installation service.
