June 17, 2019 – Littelfuse has launched the SPD2 series of Type 2 surge protection devices (SPDs) to safeguard sensitive equipment in industrial facilities by limiting the fault current to a load or to the unit being protected.

Transient overvoltage can damage components, resulting in added costs for repairs or replacements, along with unplanned downtime. With the increasing use of electronic equipment, in particular, comes a need for protection against power fluctuations.

Designed for use at power distribution or branch circuits, the SPD2 series is DIN-rail-mounted for electrical cabinets and offers a range of operating voltages, including DC power for solar applications. Each part is UL-recognized.

Features include thermal protection, an interlocking tab mechanism to withstand vibration, a visual indicator for checking module replacement status and a coded plug to prevent placement in the wrong base.
