August 1, 2011 – Standard Products introduced a lamp and ballast kit that promises a convenient way to update HID systems. To eliminate guesswork, the kit is specifically designed with you mind, says the company; all required components—lamp, prewired ballast, capacitor, ignitor (when required), mounting brackets and hardware—are all packed together. Lamps should always be replaced at the same time as any of the other components in the fixture, says Standard, to ensure the system performs at its best. This practice also eliminates the need to re-service the fixture for the duration of the lamp’s life cycle. The HID lamp and ballast kits are available in a variety of different lamp options including: probe-start metal halide (MH), pulse-start MH, and high-pressure sodium (HPS).
