May 26, 2022 – Groupe Stelpro is acquiring Métal BF, a custom metal parts manufacturer located in Terrebonne, Que., that processes steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and copper.

“This acquisition is part of our growth strategy and will strengthen our manufacturing capacity to meet the strong demand for our products proactively,” said Yves Chabot, president, Groupe Stelpro. “We deem it important to maintain quality jobs in Quebec, especially in the current context affecting global supply chains. We see this as a key advantage in serving our customers well.”

The company now consists of Stelpro for electric heat, Flextherm for heating cable, Synapse Électronique for controls, Métal BF for custom metal parts, the Stello joint venture with Hydro-Quebec subsidiary Hilo for smart home and energy management solutions, and the Sevcotech México joint venture production unit.

Groupe Stelpro also has a stake in Lancey Energy Storage, a French start-up that develops smart electric heaters with an integrated battery.

Métal BF will remain independent of Stelpro, and production will continue at its Terrebonne plant. The company will continue to serve its existing customers while integrating Stelpro’s needs into its production. A plan to increase Métal BF’s production capacity will be rolled out in the coming years.

Stelpro is a Quebec-based family-owned business known for electric heating, heating cables, ventilation, and electronic controls. It is also counted among Canada’s Best Managed companies, Platinum Club.
