June 5, 2019 – Health Canada, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) and Generation Brands have issued a joint recall for small Stratton pendant light fixtures, due to risk of injury. Specifically, the products’ glass pendant can detach, posing an impact hazard.

The recall involves 9.2-in. wide suspended light fixtures featuring clear (pictured) or smoke glass shades. Tech Lighting, one of Generation Brands’ divisions, sold approximately 30 of the units in Canada and 1,035 in the U.S. between January 2013 and December 2018, for both commercial and consumer applications.

As of May 1, 2019, the company had received one report in the U.S. (but none in Canada) of the glass pendant detaching from the fixture and falling on a bystander, resulting in an injury. Owners should contact the company to obtain a free repair kit and schedule its installation by a qualified technician.

Until then, people should be prevented from passing through the area immediately beneath the fixture. The Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or given away.
