April 7, 2014 – Sumitomo Electric Lightwave has announced the Quantum Type-QH201e-VS handheld fusion splicer, replacing the TomCatType-25eU/S/M with added advanced industry-only automated features for affordable, user-friendly and high performance fusion splices for FTTx, data centre, and other communication network applications, it says.

The V-groove splicer boasts the industry’s smallest footprint (110W x 140D x 76Hmm) for maximum portability and the fastest 12-second typical splice time among handheld splicers for improved efficiency in space constrained areas. It also offers a full navigational touch screen interface, and internet interface for non-stop remote diagnostic and maintenance with Sumitomo Electric Lightwave On-Time Service Center technicians.
