Faults can’t hide from Platinum Tools’ Fault Trapper (TFT100)

July 28, 2016 | By Renée Francoeur

July 28, 2016 – Platinum Tools’ new Fault Trapper smart tester, the TFT100, is now shipping, with a price tag of $599 US.

The TFT100 monitors live circuits up to 300 VAC and 40 amps to detect faults when traditional methods fail to find them. The device runs on the power from the circuit until the circuit breaker trips. It captures time and distance to opens, shorts, and arc faults, saving the event information in memory for later investigation. The last faults can be viewed off-line using battery power.

It connects to a 120V/240V AC circuit between the tripped circuit breaker and the load, and is small enough that it fits inside the electrical panel for extended monitoring.
