June 18, 2019 – The FLIR T840 thermal camera boasts an integrated colour viewfinder to help electrical utility and plant managers find and diagnose failing components, particularly during substation and distribution line inspections outdoors in very bright lighting conditions.

Joining FLIR Systems’ T-Series line, the 464 x 348-pixel camera incorporates the company’s Vision Processing technology, laser-assisted auto-focus and adaptive filtering algorithms to enhance clarity and accuracy. An optional six-degree lens is designed to capture temperature measurements on small targets at far distances, e.g. connectors on overhead distribution lines.

Wi-Fi streaming to the FLIR Tools app allows users to survey issues and automatically tag image files with geo-location data for documentation purposes.
