The sky’s the limit for Conestoga students, thanks to Horizon Utilities

December 11, 2015 – “We’re proud to make this contribution to the powerline technician training program at Conestoga College,” said Kathy Lerette, VP operations with Horizon Utilities, speaking on the donation of a bucket truck to the college for its Powerline Technician training in Ingersoll.
As part of Horizon’s fleet replacement cycle, it was determined that the 16-year old diesel-powered Freightliner FL80 single-bucket truck “would be a welcome addition for the [program’s] training needs”.
“The support of our industry partners is instrumental in providing Conestoga students with the learning opportunities that will lead to their future success,” said Rachel Banham, chair of Trades & Apprenticeship at Conestoga College. “We are grateful to Horizon Utilities Corporation for today’s generous donation of this aerial device […] and greatly appreciate their ongoing support for our students and program.”
“It’s very rewarding to provide support for the training of future powerline professionals that will serve our industry and communities in the future,” added Lerette.
Horizon Utilities Corp. serves customers in Hamilton and St. Catharines, Ont., and has been named a Top 10 Employer in Hamilton-Niagara five years running.
