September 9, 2019 – Panasonic Canada in Mississauga, Ont., has introduced Toughbook 55, updating its ruggedized laptop computer with modular expansion packs and accessories to better accommodate the needs of utility workers in the field.

Expansion pack features include input/output (I/O) ports, fingerprint readers, dedicated graphics cards and additional storage drives. Users can even upgrade the RAM and keyboard.

“The Toughbook 55 was created with that purpose in mind, featuring more customization, adaptability and personalization,” says Susan Black, Panasonic Canada’s general manager (GM) of information technology (IT) and security systems. “The next defining chapter of mobile technology is how it facilitates an evolving business climate.”

For those working without convenient access to recharging, the Toughbook 55 reportedly offers the product line’s longest battery life to date, along with support for hot-swapping an optional second battery without powering down. It is also backward-compatible with existing vehicle and desktop docking infrastructure.
