October 19, 2016 – The British Columbia government is continuing its streak of recent investments to post-secondary institutions for more high-priority trades training seats with $5.2 million going to Camosun College in Victoria.

The investment, through the Industry Training Authority (ITA), will fund 2047 seats through to March 31, 2017, in various trades, including electricians.
 
“There is growing interest in trade careers across the province and the investment announced today will ensure British Columbians have the opportunity to access training in high-priority trades so that they are equipped with the right skills to respond to the job opportunities to come,” said Gary Herman, CEO of ITA.  

“This funding allows Camosun College to deliver more than 20 different trades foundation and apprenticeship programs each year to more than 2000 students, making Camosun one of the leading providers of trades training in our province,” added Eric Sehn, dean of trades and technology, Camosun College. “Our students learn how to become practical problem solvers and gain the latest technical skills needed for the trades of today—helping them build a sustainable future for themselves and our community.”
