March 30, 2016 | By Renée Francoeur

March 30, 2016 – Vizimax, a provider of equipment to monitor, control and manage electric power infrastructure across multiple sectors, has announced that the IEEE Standards Association certified its PMU (phasor measurement unit) as complying with all requirements in the IEEE Synchrophasor Measurement Test Suite Specification – Version 2.

To receive this certification, the Vizimax PMU 010000 underwent all required tests established by the IEEE Synchrophasor Conformity Assessment Steering Committee (SCASC), which was completed at Consumers Energy Laboratory Services, an IEEE-authorized independent laboratory.

”The IEEE Synchrophasor Certification Program was developed to offer suppliers and end-users of PMU technology worldwide, a method to determine compliance to the IEEE C37.118.1a standard,” said Ravi Subramaniam, technical director of the IEEE Conformity Assessment Program. “Certification of PMU 010000 marks a significant achievement for Vizimax as they get listed on IEEE’s certified PMUs registry.”

Vizimax says its PMU offers measurements exceeding C37.118 requirements for both M and P class, with a reporting rate of up to 240 frames per second.
