Tyco Thermal Raychem cables meet Cdn fire resistance standards

January 25, 2010 | By Anthony Capkun

Tyco Thermal Controls announced a new offering in its range of 2-hour fire-rated cables available in Canada: Raychem brand armoured cable (Raychem MC). According to the company, Raychem MC is the first armoured cable qualified to UL 2196 “Test for Fire Resistive Cables”. Recognized in the Canadian Electrical Code as Type RC90, Raychem MC has a 25-mil copper sheath that meets the requirements for an equipment grounding conductor in the CEC. It requires no conduit, and is suitable for wet locations at 90°C; it is terminated with commercially available brass MC connectors.
