Ancaster location expands Tim Horton’s commitment to electric vehicles

March 21, 2014 | By Anthony Capkun

March 21, 2014 – Tim Horton’s is expanding its electric vehicle charging station pilot program with a new installation in Ancaster, Ont. Launched earlier in Oakville last year, the restaurant has expanded its program though British Columbia and now, again, in Ontario.

Tim Horton’s says it is extending its client experience to offer more than just free wireless at its restaurants; EV owners get a free charge as well as a great parking spot. The company says it has decided to run electrical wires to future charging stations through conduits in parking lots at all newly built Canadian restaurants going forward.

The partners for this installation included Plug’n Drive, Kraun Electric (an Eaton Certified Contractor, which performed the electrical installation), Hydro One (installation sponsor) and GreenLots (cloud-based network service provider that is hosting the data).

Founded in 1996, Kraun Electric Inc. selected the Eaton Pedestal Dual Level 2 Charging Station, which supports simultaneous, independent charge sessions, and is available with multiple power output options.
