August 31, 2011 | By Anthony Capkun

Electrical Business dropped in on Skills/Compétences Canada’s (S/CC) National Competition in Quebec City (June 2011) to check out, of course, the Electrical Installation section. We chatted with Dermot John Rooney of S/CC’s national technical committee (Electrical Installation, Western Region) to learn more about the competition and what competitors go through.

We interviewed René Jétté, also of the national technical committee (Electrical Installation, Quebec), and asked him to explain—in French—the importance of an organization like Skills/Compétences Canada. Finally, we met Timothy Twa and his trainer, Derek Olan, at the competition. Tim was honing his skills in preparation to represent the electrical installation trade as a member of Team Canada at WorldSkills in London, England, in October.
