Gary Goodyear, minister of state (science and technology), recently announced a $750,000 contribution to ViXS Systems Inc. from the National Research Council of Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP). The funding supports an R&D project that will support ViXS Systems in developing high-tech multimedia solutions for global markets.

ViXS Systems is a multimedia solutions player, providing technologies
for processing, managing, securing and distributing high-quality video
and audio, allowing seamless multimedia control, conversion and
connectivity between any class and size of digital-entertainment device.

The contribution will support the Toronto, Ont.-based company in
developing video networking processors for Blu-ray multimedia players
and recorders, making it easier to decode, transcode and encode
multiple formats of digital HD and standard-def video content for
reprocessing, distribution and playback.
