Vortec 2016 enclosure coolers keep electronics chilled
July 29, 2016 By Renée Francoeur

July 29, 2016 – Vortec says its enclosure coolers keep electrical and electronic enclosures cool, clean and dry, and are a low-cost alternative to air conditioners.
A small mounting footprint allows these coolers to be used in confined spaces as they require 1/10th the space of comparable air-conditioner units, the company notes. Models are available from 400 to 5000 BTU with air consumption from 8 SCFM to 70 SCFM. NEMA 12, NEMA 4, NEMA 4X, Zone 2 & 22 and Class I, II, III, Div 2 ratings are available as well.
Vortex tubes convert compressed air to a low-pressure cold air source to keep electronic enclosures and panel components protected. A compressed air stream enters the vortex tube where it spins rapidly, splitting into hot and cold air streams. Most Vortec enclosure cooler models are thermostatically controlled to regulate cabinet temperatures within a specified range.
