WARNING: Heat detector with counterfeit UL Mark – 13PN-08

April 30, 2013 – UL is notifying distributors, contractors, fire departments, regulatory agencies and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) that the heat detector identified below bears a counterfeit UL Mark, and has not been evaluated by UL to the appropriate standards for safety. It is unknown whether the detector complies with any safety requirements.

The product is labelled Heat Detector Model NB 988, Type 2, and the following text appears on the counterfeit label:

Alarm Current Max. 100mA

The counterfeit label was printed and applied to the product by J&C Import & Export, S.A. (AV Tech). The product was sold by the aforementioned, but may have been sold by other retailers. (Photos courtesy UL).
