Weigh in on ESA’s proposed 2015/2016 wiring fee adjustment

June 27, 2014 – Ontario’s Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) has commenced public consultation on proposed adjustments to wiring fees, and invites comment from interested stakeholders.

ESA is proposing a two-year, average 2.65% per year increase to wiring services fees for the next two years. Please see consultation instructions and the detailed rationale for the proposed adjustment (download) below:

The agency encourages all interested stakeholders to participate in the consultation and provide “meaningful input”. ESA stresses it strives to be “transparent and open about our decision-making processes”.

N.B. The consultation period runs June 11, 2014, to July 18 2014. Written comments should be submitted by the deadline to:

Remember to include:

• Your response to the proposed wiring fee changes: generally accepting; somewhat accepting; neutral; opposed.

• Your thoughts on the proposed timing, and any challenges you may face implementing the proposed fee adjustments.

• Your contact information: name, organization, type of work (e.g. contractor, facility owner, consumer).

• Your interest in participating in future fee consultations.

ESA will post the results of the consultation on its website in August, but it will not post any of your personal information. If you prefer not to have your comments posted, indicate that with your submission.
