Welcoming Women to the Industry – Women in Construction 2022

March 10, 2022 – Women represent a huge, untapped resource for the construction industry. What can industry leaders do to create an environment that welcomes women into the construction industry, and drive more women to consider a construction-oriented career path?

DANIELLE GILLANDERS is senior project manager at Graham Infrastructure, with demonstrated experience in the utilities industry. She is a passionate advocate for women working in construction, and has been in the industry for over 10 years.
Sadaf Parvaiz was appointed the first-ever Global Enterprise Inclusion & Diversity Leader at GHD. She sits on the Executive People Leadership Team and is also a part of the Strategy and Transformation leadership team. Sadaf’s commitment and leadership has resulted in her being recognized as 2020 Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by WXN.
LAURA HUTT is a superintendent for a large construction management company in Ontario, and founder of Women in Steel Toes. Laura has been in the construction industry for six years and strives to educate the next generation about what being in construction is like and all the opportunities it can present.
JENNIFER GREEN is the director of Competitions and Young Women’s Initiatives at Skills Ontario, an organization focusing on encouraging youth to explore and pursue careers in the skilled trades and technologies. She has been presented with the Universal Women’s Network Women of Inspiration Award, WXN Top 100 Canada’s Most Powerful Women Award, and the Conestoga College Alumni of Distinction Award.
