November 1, 2014 – Congratulations to Kevin Holm and Stefan Portmann with Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., who were recently recognized by AECL for their work in improving electrical safety within the organization, and reducing the number of near misses.

Specifically, Kevin (electrical designer) and Stef (manager, electrical maintenance) were singled out “for their leadership and development of an implementation plan to improve electrical safety across the AECL site. They guided senior management and staff to significantly advance our electrical safety program rapidly towards industry best practice”.

Their role in updating electrical safety processes, personal protection practices and training has helped AECL move toward industry best practice with a reduction of safety events, says the organization. “This achievement aligns with AECL’s goal to ‘ensure employee safety and well-being’.”

AECL went on to say “Their personal conviction to achieve much higher standards for the broad and far-reaching electrical safety activities across AECL is a testament to their personal integrity and strong desire to make a different in safety for all AECL employees”.
