Why is Robert Kohuch going to IEC Workshop in India… for free?

August 16, 2013 – Robert Kohuch, a 32-year-old senior engineer for hazardous locations with QPS Evaluation Services, was selected as the winner of Standard Council of Canada’s (SCC’s) Young Professionals IEC 2013 Workshop Competition. He will participate as part of the Canadian delegation at the 77th International Electrotechnical Commission General Meeting in New Delhi, India, in October. Congratulations!

QPS is test laboratory and certification body headquartered in Toronto, Ont. Kohuch, who manages a team of 10, has combined experience in standards development and conformity assessment to IEC and IEC-adopted standards.

The competition was open to electrotechnical professionals in their 20s and 30s who develop or work with standards, or work in conformity assessment, and are involved in IEC’s work. Countries around the world hold individual competitions for their own young professionals.

To be held in conjunction with IEC’s General Meeting, the Young Professionals Workshop will join professionals from around the world who are beginning their careers in electrotechnical standardization and conformance. Now in its fourth year, the workshop aims to cultivate long-term national involvement in the international arena, strengthen the future of technology transfer, and encourage the participation of young professionals in shaping the future of standardization and conformance.
