February 21, 2019 – Leviton’s Load Center, an Internet-connected system that lets homeowners monitor their energy consumption, has been updated with ‘intelligent’ circuit breakers for easier installation by electrical contractors.

The system can monitor electricity use per branch circuit or appliance and be set up to send notification alerts to the homeowner’s smartphone or tablet when a circuit breaker has been tripped or if an appliance has been on or off for a user-defined amount of time. Branch circuit breakers can be turned off remotely to shed loads.

The circuit breakers—featuring GFCI lockout technology that reportedly exceeds existing UL safety standards—are installed the same as standard versions and communicate with Wi-Fi or Ethernet-enabled data hubs located at the panels. In turn, a house’s hub securely transmits the circuit breaker to the homeowner’s router and the Leviton cloud. The ‘My Leviton’ app automatically discovers and senses each of the breakers as they are connected.
