100% renewable electricity to power Aliaxis production facilities in Quebec

June 21, 2023 | By Anthony Capkun

June 21, 2023 – The parent company of IPEXAliaxis SA—has joined Hydro-Quebec’s Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) pilot project, with the intention of obtaining Ecologo RECs to cover 100% renewable electricity consumption for all of its sites in the province for 2023.

Aliaxis says this is an important step toward its commitment to use 100% renewable electricity in all of its manufacturing operations by 2025.

“Our four production facilities in Quebec are the first manufacturing plants in our North American fleet that will meet 100% renewable electricity status,” said Eric Olsen, Aliaxis’ CEO, adding that the company aims to reduce CO2 emissions globally by 75% per tonne of production by 2025.

The RECs offered by Hydro-Quebec originate from wind farms located in the province. The certificates verify that the electricity used at Aliaxis Quebec sites will come from 100% renewable, emissions-free sources.

The manufacturer has also pledged to undertake energy efficiency projects at its plants, and to join demand-response programs to reduce electricity use during peak periods.
