Brookfield Comber Wind project offered 20-year contract

April 24, 2010 | By Anthony Capkun

Brookfield Renewable Power Inc. says its Comber Wind project has been offered a 20-year contract under the Province of Ontario’s Feed-in Tariff (FIT) program.

The project is located in the town of Lakeshore in Essex County, and is
expected to have an installed capacity of 165MW and to produce about
500GW/h of energy annually. Still subject to final contract execution
and customary conditions, the project is expected to begin construction
later this year, with a planned commercial operation date in 2011.

“We’re very pleased to have been offered this contract under Ontario’s
progressive FIT program and look forward to adding to Brookfield’s
significant and growing wind portfolio in the province,” said Richard
Legault, president and CEO of Brookfield Renewable Power.
