Claudine Bouchard – Woman of WaterPower 2021

October 6, 2021 – Congratulations to Hydro-Quebec’s Claudine Bouchard, who has been named the 2021 Woman of WaterPower—a joint award by Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) and WaterPower Canada.

The award was introduced by WaterPower Canada’s president & CEO, Anne-Raphaëlle Audouin, during “Canadian Waterpower Week” today, while Joanna Szarek Osawe, WiRE’s CEO, made the announcement.

Bouchard serves as executive vice-president, TransÉnergie and Construction, and president & CEO of Société d’énergie de la Baie James.

In her EVP capacity, she oversees the operation and development of Hydro‑Quebec’s power transmission system, as well as the marketing of system capacity and the management of power flows across the province. She is also responsible for the design and execution of construction and refurbishment projects related to the company’s generating and transmission facilities.

Among her numerous involvements and accomplishments, Bouchard serves as an ambassador in the Women’s Leadership program of the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie Saguenay‑Le Fjord, and has led Hydro‑Québec’s Centraide Leadership campaign since 2018.

The WiRE and WaterPower Canada Woman of Waterpower Award recognizes women contributing to the waterpower energy sector, and have helped advance the role and recognition of women in the renewable energy sector.
