August 27, 2023 – Six years ago… that’s how long it’s been since the last Electrifest—Nedco Canada’s largest selling show. For me, the excitement of finally being back since 2017 made this edition particularly special.

Electrifest is a massive undertaking, which is why this extravaganza only happens every three years.

Seemingly overnight, Nedco staff transformed the warehouse at 5600 Keaton Cres. in Mississauga, Ont., into a festive, exciting, deal-oriented phenomenon, complete with food, drink, entertainment, speaker sessions, and dozens of partner exhibitors.

And while all of this is going on, the branch and warehouse remain fully operational and available to customers.

The theme of this year’s Electrifest was “The Next Generation”—a clever way to highlight the newest solutions in energy, test & measurement, transformers, lighting, metering, tools, wire and cable, signalling, wiring devices… well, I could go on.

And, as an unapologetic fan, it was the perfect opportunity to indulge in a little TNG cosplay and a science fiction-themed tabletop!

All the folks who stopped by Electrical Business Magazine’s booth were welcome to grab a pair of work gloves, and were invited to enter a draw for an awesome Packout 40-quart XL cooler (approx. value $300)—perfect for the summer heatwaves we’ve had!

Next door to us were the professionals from Event Imaging who, as in 2017, hosted a photobooth where attendees, exhibitors, and staff could grace the cover of Electrical Business Magazine. These “cover models” received a photo print that would remind them of Electrifest XII.

For me, the best thing about Electrifest is the opportunity to meet with electrical contractors, journeymen and apprentices, Nedco staff and related pros from all over Ontario. I am thankful for all the new connections I made that day, and especially for the ability to see a bunch of people I have not seen in-person since the pandemic.

Thanks again to Gerry, Sonia, Rob, Amélie, and all the wonderful, welcoming Nedco staff, for having us again. I’m looking forward to Electrifest XIII in 2026!
