Energy Impact Partners invests in smart grid company Opus One Solutions

September 14, 2016 – Opus One Solutions, a smart grid software engineering and solutions company, and Energy Impact Partners (EIP), an investment firm representing a utility-backed fund of six large utilities in North America, have announced a partnership in support of Opus One’s North American expansion.

The partnership features an equity investment in Opus One through the EIP fund and provides the company with collaboration opportunities with related utilities.
 
“We look for emerging companies with real answers to today’s energy challenges—solutions that are ready to scale with the help of our utility partners,” commented Hans Kobler, CEO and managing partner at EIP. “Opus One is poised to become a key building block in the software-driven intelligent grid and we and our partners are looking forward to working with them.”
 
Along with being awarded Greentech Media’s Grid Edge 2016 Award and CIO Energy Insights’ Top 10 Best Smart Grid Solution Providers, Opus One notes its software platform GridOS is being deployed with several utilities in Canada this year.
 
Using “unique intellectual property with intelligent power engineering algorithms and analytics”, Opus One sasy it provides electricity distribution utilities “situational awareness for the energy grid” through GridOS, its real-time energy networking platform.
