Feed Nova Scotia and NS Power buy Christmas dinner for 5500 families in need

December 19, 2011 – As Canada gears up for the holiday season, Feed Nova Scotia and Nova Scotia Power are partnering to buy turkeys for 5500 Christmas dinners across the province.

The announcement includes an $85,000 contribution by NS Power. The 5500 families who will receive turkeys through Feed Nova Scotia’s local food banks and agencies live throughout the province, including: HRM, Louisburg, Sydney, Port Hawkesbury, Antigonish, Canso, Guysborough, Amherst, Pugwash, Canning, Middleton, Hantsport, and Chester.

“Feed Nova Scotia does extraordinary work reaching out to families who need a helping hand,” said Rob Bennett, CEO of NS Power. “At NS Power, we feel honoured to partner with them in the important work they do. And we are proud to make this contribution to help make the holiday season a special time for Nova Scotia families.”

“NS Power’s donation will help make Christmas brighter for thousands of families,” said Dianne Swinemar, executive director of Feed Nova Scotia. “At this time of year, we are fortunate to receive incredible support from the community, but a gift of this magnitude truly stands out and we can’t thank NS Power enough.
