January 5, 2024 – Katherine Sparkes has joined Enwave as vice-president, Grid Solutions, where she will lead the launch of a new business platform focused on integrated grid solutions within Enwave’s district networks, customer sites, and the grid.

“Katherine brings over 14 years of experience working with [Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator], managing over 200 projects within the Grid Innovation Fund with over $100 million of partner funding to support initiatives focused on innovation, energy efficiency and changing customer demands on the grid,” says Enwave, which describes itself as “the leading core-competency district energy operator in North America”.

Before joining Enwave, Sparkes served as director, Innovation, Research & Development, at IESO.

With the demand for green and renewable energy increasing across Canada, Enwave continues, plus a global mandate coming out of COP28 to transition away from fossil fuels, the company sees the addition of the Grid Solutions platform “as a natural extension of the scalable solutions which enable our customers and stakeholders achieve their energy goals”.

Sparkes brings “not only this industry expertise to Enwave, but also strong stakeholder relationships across Ontario and proven leadership experience,” Enwave adds.
