OPG plans new, centralized HQ in Clarington
By Peter Saunders
June 11, 2019 – Electricity producer Ontario Power Generation (OPG) plans to establish new corporate headquarters (HQ) in a campus setting in Clarington, Ont., part of Durham Region.
The campus, scheduled to open in 2024, will combine the existing Darlington Energy Complex—located in the community of Courtice, just south of Highway 401—with a new building to be constructed on adjacent, OPG-owned land. All of the company’s non-station-based positions in Toronto, Niagara and Durham Region will be centralized at the HQ.
“This is an exciting opportunity to create a high-tech energy hub and promote innovation and collaboration across the organization and with our partners and suppliers,” says OPG president and CEO Ken Hartwick. “This new campus will also help us reduce our real estate footprint and the use of commercially leased space, thus reducing costs.”
